Who we are

TJM Research is a contract R&D firm based in Mansfield, TX, founded in 2008 by Thomas J. Martin, Ph.D., specializing in new product development for clients in the chemical industry. Our mission is to provide reliable, high-quality consulting, formulation and testing services to small and mid-size companies who seek to outsource R&D project work. TJM Research is your lab partner, helping grow your business and bring new products to market through innovative chemistry.

Dr. Martin is an accomplished research chemist, with expertise in both analytical chemisty and fluorosurfactant synthesis. He has over 25 years of chemistry research and development experience from work in several industries, including:

  • fire-fighting foams
  • paints and coatings
  • textiles
  • oil and gas
  • plastics and elastomers
  • medical devices

resulting in 13 US patents awarded to date.

In addition to his extensive product development background, Dr. Martin has had responsibilities as Quality Control Manager for a dynamic specialty surfactants company and as Manager in the Analytical Chemistry department for a leading medical device manufacturer, with responsibilities for regulatory compliance including EPA, TSCA, REACH, OSHA, FDA and others.

Dr. Martin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from Midwestern State University and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin.

TJM Analytical is an extension of the consulting work that Dr. Martin began years earlier. In 2019 a state-of-the-art laboratory was built and equipment acquired for this purpose. Today, Dr. Martin and associates comprise a small but rapidly growing business that is unique in its expertise and capabilities..
